While peace overseas may not currently seem possible, peace in the
community is within our reach. The IMAGINE PEACE FESTIVAL held today at
Library Square provides an opportunity for children and adults, Green
Party members and Sean Hannity followers alike, to share their hope for world
peace. The festival is hosted by PomPomsNotBombBombs (aka the Radical
Cheerleaders) and features live music, theater, art, dialogues,
activist booths, children's events and a poetry slam. You can say they're
dreamers, but they're not the only ones. Imagine Peace Festival @ Library
Square, 200 E. 400 South, 599-6640, noon-6 p.m.

Imagine Peace Festival  schedule

Outfits: tie-dye shirts with pink and black

We will be performing straight up at noon at the ampitheatre to start off the event, and we'll be closing the event at around 5:40 or so with the same "program".

Cheers for Imagine Peace Festival

With pom-poms:

1. We're pom-poms not bomb bombs
2. Ooh la la (words below)
3. We're Mighty, we're cute redux (oldie but a goodie - words below)

Without pom poms

5. Ungowa (words below)
4. War and Occupation (with small change below)

I think we also discussed the cheerleaders to say a word or two (10-20 seconds or so) on mike  about their cheerleading experience. Think

Ooh la la

ooh la la
ooh la la
roll, roll, roll to the peace now
roll, roll, roll to the peace now
do you know
do you know
how good peace is
how good peace is
PEACE is groovy

We're Mighty, We're Cute (redux)

We're mighty, we're cute
we're radical to boot
we're angry, we're tough
and we have had enough

take back the power
stop war and greed!

take back the power
stop war and greed!

take back the power
stop war and greed!

Ungowa

My back is achin'
My bra's too tight
My body is shakin' from left to right
say
uhn, ungowa, people got the powa
uhn, ungowa, people got the powa
uhn, ungowa, people got the powa

My heart is poundin'
My shoes don't fit
Way things are soundin'
I just can't sit
say
uhn, ungowa, people got the powa
uhn, ungowa, people got the powa
uhn, ungowa, people got the powa

We stand together
We can't be stopped
We'll take our message
Straight to the top
say
uhn, ungowa, people got the powa
uhn, ungowa, people got the powa
uhn, ungowa, people got the powa
say UHN!

Change to War and Occupation -- the part where we say, "bring the troops home" three times is changed to two times with the last time saying "It's time for peace NOW!"

War and Occupation
Is  wrong for any nation
The U.S. needs to fix and see
The holes in OUR democracy

Bring the troops home, bring the troops home, bring the troops home now!

Bring the troops home, bring the troops home, bring the troops home now!

It's time for peace, it's time for peace, it's time for peace NOW!
The first ever Imagine Peace Festival will be held at SLC's Library Square (and the library auditorium and the 4th floor conference room) this Saturday (September 23) from noon until 6 pm in honor of International Peace Day. You can find a schedule of events below.

There will be volunteer opportunities for set-up and tear down, as well as manning the festival info table. Please reply to this post or email me at green_jenni@livejournal.com if you are interested in participating.

Thank you!
Jen

Special thanks to skepticle :

These are some of the most artistic photos of the cheerleaders that anyone has yet taken . . .

Cheerleader photos from rally participants

Thought it might be fun to link cheerleader photos from rally participants here, or maybe even post them.

Here's one from http://www.skepticle.com/gallery/SLC%20Protest/pages/cheerleader.htm

News Video of cheerleaders

Apparently we can be seen in this clip about 2/3 of the way through doing our "Fire W" cheer!
